Here's a card I made for a friend at work. She likes vintage designs so I'm hoping she'll enjoy this card.<br />

<br />
For Christmas this year I'm working on making some gifts for some of my close familly and relatives. I decided to make a bunch of different cards for them to use over the year. This way they never need to worry about running out to buy a card at the last minute. I did this a few years ago and it was a real hit with my best friend Sylvia. She said that having the cards on hand to give to people at the office when they've been ill or have a birthday helped make her seem thoughtful. Haha! Silly Sylvia. She's already thoughtful. :)<br />
<br />
I grabbed some small cardboard gift boxes from the dollar store last week that are large enough to fit the typical handmade cards of 5-1/2" x 4-1/4". At the moment I'm working fiercely on cards they'll like that I can fill those boxes up with. I think the key is to keep them simple. Here are some cards I've made so far;<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha9CMPCkfmDIcbXnjwyph-XY968rCypQhvYXx3Y5e0-Dr8XWwK4Kr-fjEi8ft8GARHk7K58_lHxRT8EItz8jh66-3MobRuQEL8zZgYXRhiZl4AtOZKTmreb-RViKiGrsSaLKgll3q1vuY/s1600/44606_10152340716775322_956642344_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEha9CMPCkfmDIcbXnjwyph-XY968rCypQhvYXx3Y5e0-Dr8XWwK4Kr-fjEi8ft8GARHk7K58_lHxRT8EItz8jh66-3MobRuQEL8zZgYXRhiZl4AtOZKTmreb-RViKiGrsSaLKgll3q1vuY/s320/44606_10152340716775322_956642344_n.jpg" width="268" /></a></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqWwY-zOos74Iocik_IVeDaE45HOooNcpoi4Y3Co4ZBUcEqNOOsaEv0_4NQB5966p7_GTKJAYqfVCgHQ4Rs-WoirNeRZJ_w4WFGyUo2EsW-WF9rxdtuxhcLzenM5_h4H-D4AN2_XzcJ0g/s1600/399278_10152340717020322_1827703159_n.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" eea="true" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgqWwY-zOos74Iocik_IVeDaE45HOooNcpoi4Y3Co4ZBUcEqNOOsaEv0_4NQB5966p7_GTKJAYqfVCgHQ4Rs-WoirNeRZJ_w4WFGyUo2EsW-WF9rxdtuxhcLzenM5_h4H-D4AN2_XzcJ0g/s320/399278_10152340717020322_1827703159_n.jpg" width="249" /></a></div>
<br />
Some cards they'll use may be;<br />
<br />
Get Well<br />
Birthday<br />
Thank You<br />
Sympathy<br />
Anniversary<br />
<br />
I thought about Valentine's cards but I don't think they'd use them. You could include them in your box if you're doing the same thing. I've also made some tabs/dividers for the box so it's kept somewhat organized. I made and named four tabs;<br />
<br />
Birthday<br />
Get Well/Sympathy<br />
Thanks<br />
Other<br />
<br />
I'll post a picture of the finished product soon. I hope that covers it, and yes, I do see the irony of having 'Get Well' and 'Sympathy' cards stored together. ;)<br />
<br />
Have a great holiday!<br />

I tucked some moolah into it so I hope she didn't mind it being late. ;)<br /><br />Here's the rubber stamp I choose for her card. It's from The Greeting Farm.<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRIu93XKYAC33-I-ybeR6SHE4sfv9RHwpVZx7X5kbaVBosLArrqRIQT3TSC3RyYpJwmpmRz_5Xy4Ety6KkQrAjDL6z22illOtvl_5UbYrr3btiNgv35blx9N1UGf2gsVVUDlgcmt456fg/s1600/Monkeys.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 240px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704550270560486562" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhRIu93XKYAC33-I-ybeR6SHE4sfv9RHwpVZx7X5kbaVBosLArrqRIQT3TSC3RyYpJwmpmRz_5Xy4Ety6KkQrAjDL6z22illOtvl_5UbYrr3btiNgv35blx9N1UGf2gsVVUDlgcmt456fg/s320/Monkeys.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />I started by using my copic markers, E31, E33, and E35, to colour in their fur. I heard the groundhog saw his shadow this morning too. Yay! Spring is on its way. ;)<br /><br />Our neighbour just had a baby girl they named Scarlett. To congratulate them I made them a card and left them a gift. Here's the card;<br /><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0RlZltJdZYzAhEMEzD4szxLTsaogV_lxGZ1m4wYX4MyejrAm12Oy03N8lcxNxBw3Q1kRX0AhyLExor2ihxe1gCnSFod1h5p3dJtCA-cW4YLVHLQR_qUjvgb1NQykeOr8PTi1GOHjlI_o/s1600/Baby+Card.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 303px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5704547367029835634" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh0RlZltJdZYzAhEMEzD4szxLTsaogV_lxGZ1m4wYX4MyejrAm12Oy03N8lcxNxBw3Q1kRX0AhyLExor2ihxe1gCnSFod1h5p3dJtCA-cW4YLVHLQR_qUjvgb1NQykeOr8PTi1GOHjlI_o/s320/Baby+Card.JPG" /></a><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />I used a layout from this year's Stampin' Up catalogue for this one. Sometimes when you have a creative block, it's a good idea to try different layouts from books, catalogues and magazines. I loved how this turned out! I used SU paper, the SU scalloped paper punch, an SU stamp set, and a ribbon I found at a scrapbook store about a year ago.<br /><br />What do you think?<br /><br />Rebeccathe paper bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07031046264060049205noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999748471629580506.post-43871836126917642982011-03-04T15:01:00.008-05:002011-03-04T15:15:59.412-05:00True Blue<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaUitAIHZMLB1TfSWV2BdZL1CTEDqy1adxHb8C4s_qQULOV7hRbAnnoTvlHXaEXHl3ymAugbFfjZNtgZVklBwTTLYikRXSNESx-4qQGSdcCWbSjPFaDiDtxsZJ5ioPSGe1p5SIyfl3gRI/s1600/DSC01507.JPG"><img style="TEXT-ALIGN: center; MARGIN: 0px auto 10px; WIDTH: 318px; DISPLAY: block; HEIGHT: 320px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5580318676420873282" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiaUitAIHZMLB1TfSWV2BdZL1CTEDqy1adxHb8C4s_qQULOV7hRbAnnoTvlHXaEXHl3ymAugbFfjZNtgZVklBwTTLYikRXSNESx-4qQGSdcCWbSjPFaDiDtxsZJ5ioPSGe1p5SIyfl3gRI/s320/DSC01507.JPG" /></a><br /><div>Here's another card I made for this weeks challenge on the <a href="http://ynschallenges.blogspot.com/2011/03/challenge-37-feeling-blue.html">Your Next Stamp blog</a>. Her name is Fhiona. So cute! Don't you think?</div><br /><div></div><div></div><div></div><div>I've altered the stamped image slightly by adding two more balloons (the stamp has one). Since I wanted her to look like she was floating up in the clouds, I thought it was more practical for her to have a few balloons lifting her up. I also paper pieced the balloons. The challenges are such an inspiration! This challenge's theme is "Seeing Red" and our card must be mostly red. Well....it's my favourite colour! Loved this challenge! Since my eye is constantly drawn to red decorative paper, I had tons of it to choose from in my paper stash.</div><div></div><br /><div>For my card I used Chester from Kraftin' Kimmie Stamps.</div><br /><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjndDQ2-3yBpLMtzBa_YSlhSkFGECJgvaKQ64MTpnSwpyJfSUeh6qfkPA4tBFj8EO1DhKaNBMT_-Pl2p4TAl1t6rdyDVl1jRseG8zq_bIKHRqH_5MEvy6sEFkqNkGEZ7p5ytc1Mj6KIHr0/s1600/DSC01487.JPG"><img style="MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; FLOAT: left; HEIGHT: 318px; CURSOR: hand" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5578873505773446210" border="0" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjndDQ2-3yBpLMtzBa_YSlhSkFGECJgvaKQ64MTpnSwpyJfSUeh6qfkPA4tBFj8EO1DhKaNBMT_-Pl2p4TAl1t6rdyDVl1jRseG8zq_bIKHRqH_5MEvy6sEFkqNkGEZ7p5ytc1Mj6KIHr0/s320/DSC01487.JPG" /></a><br /><div></div><br /><br /><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div> </div><div>What do you think?</div><br /><div></div><div>Rebecca</div>the paper bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07031046264060049205noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3999748471629580506.post-76840350528896712252011-02-28T03:40:00.006-05:002011-02-28T17:37:39.101-05:00Kraftin' Kimmie - Challenge #65I decided to participate in a challenge on the Kraftin' Kimmie blog - a special recipe challenge! Here is my take on the sketch:<br /><br />I've never made a monochromatic card before so I thought I'd give it a try. The squirrel's name is Doraline. The artist of this stamp, Marina Neira, has also illustrated several animal stamps for The Greeting Farm. You should check them out. The decorative paper is from Tim Holtz, and the flowers were from the SU stamp, Fifth Avenue Floral. I stamped the flowers, watercoloured them and cut them out. The ribbon is my fave new ribbon. It's fantastic! It's from Maya Road and it's pleated. My hubby calls them "curtains". Mo Manning's images are always so full of life. It's no surprise to learn that she's a children's illustrator and author. Here's a card I created using the "Sending Peace" digital stamp. It can be found <a href="http://digitalpenciltoo.com/index.php/Sending-Peace.html?keyword=angel">here</a>.<br /><br />I made this card for my friend who'll be giving it to her mother-in-law for her birthday. Summer may be ending, but Anya's out there enjoying every minute. I made this card using an Anya stamp from The Greeting Farm. My inspiration came from this weeks Farm Fresh Friday sketch challenge on TGF's blog: <a href="http://www.splendidstamping.blogspot.com/">http://www.splendidstamping.blogspot.com/</a> , as well as a colour challenge I found on Splitcoast Stampers (CC284). Typically I shy away from using red and green together unless I'm making Christmas cards, but add a little pink, and it's got a cheery life of its own to it! I just loved this colour combo challenge. The pink dp from Basic Grey was fun to use too.</div><div></div><div><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1JtTirtVCNmVeeeE7HGMPxexc_1LFyywOdFXm13h2HTQwPTm8L6By93zU_dh8roFyZbmJAybhtl2Bqz7nHCXSjtLJEco4UP1NbwVzsHsNiQadvvK5llTjcqSm1eWY2nJDJtejcdLAWIU/s1600/DSC00923.JPG"><img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5510852865602839762" style="FLOAT: left; MARGIN: 0px 10px 10px 0px; WIDTH: 320px; CURSOR: hand; HEIGHT: 320px" alt="" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEi1JtTirtVCNmVeeeE7HGMPxexc_1LFyywOdFXm13h2HTQwPTm8L6By93zU_dh8roFyZbmJAybhtl2Bqz7nHCXSjtLJEco4UP1NbwVzsHsNiQadvvK5llTjcqSm1eWY2nJDJtejcdLAWIU/s320/DSC00923.JPG" border="0" /></a><br /></div><div></div><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><br /><div></div><div></div><div>What do you think?</div><div><br /></div><div></div><div>Rebecca</div>the paper bughttp://www.blogger.com/profile/07031046264060049205noreply@blogger.com0
